OUR COMMUNITY
2026 SPRING FLING

A crowd of over 50 residents and family attended the 2026 Spring Fling event on March 14th. Great food and fellowship was had by all! Live music was provided by the Rio Valley Fun Time Band, featuring country and western music in both English and Spanish. The band invited anyone to come to the microphone and sing. First time singer Norma Alvarez joined Mike on stage and together they delighted the crowd by singing "Red River Valley" in both English and Spanish.
President of the Association Oscar Alvarez thanked everyone who brought desserts and the committee of Norma and Elaine for organizing the day and providing the very delicious sandwiches. He also recognized Janie Weaver for coordinating the in-person delivery of flyers to each home, and those who helped get them out.
The next community-wide event is the Labor Day party in September.
Thanks to Janie W. & Elaine B. for taking the photos

2025 Christmas gathering a great success!
A large crowd of members and guests assembled at the community area on Saturday December 13 for the annual Christmas gathering and toy drive. Tamales, pies, cakes, and holiday cookies were shared by all as holiday music in English and Spanish played in the background. Two large boxes were filled to the top with donated toys for the local girls and boys. The toys will be distributed by our local Police Department. Many thanks to the committee, especially Letty Gonzales and Janie Weaver, for all the planning and decorating done to make this such a fun time for everyone. What is Neighborhood Watch?
The Mission Manor Neighborhood Watch Program is an approved activity within the Association.
The Committee is headed by a chairperson who is appointed by the Board of Directors and serves until resignation or termination by the Board. Members of the Committee are appointed by the chairperson who will keep the board informed of the membership. Whenever the chairperson position becomes vacant the Board will seek the advice of the remaining members of the Watch Committee and when possible appoint the person recommended.
The Neighborhood Watch Committee holds regular meetings and operates within the guidelines of the National Neighborhood Watch Program sponsored by the National Sheriff’s Association of the United States and any lawful directives of the Mission Manor Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors appoints a Director to serve as the Board’s “contact person” to coordinate with the Neighborhood Watch Committee. This Director presents matters of interest and/or concern to the Board on behalf of the Committee, but is not required to be an active participant of the Committee.
The Neighborhood Watch Program is defined as a group of Mission Manor residents who have a common goal of keeping our community safe by observation ONLY, informing our local law enforcement of any unusual or unexplained activity. The Mission Manor Neighborhood Watch program is NOT an arm of law enforcement and is NOT empowered by the Association or by local law enforcement to take any direct action, regardless of the circumstances. The Mission Manor Neighborhood Watch program is specifically limited by the Board of Directors to observation and notification ONLY.
Because of the open nature of the overall community , it has been determined that it is in the best interest of our Mission Manor Homeowners Association Phase II membership to include like-minded non-member residents of Phase I in the Neighborhood Watch Program. This is one of the only circumstances when individuals residing outside the Association (Phase II) may have membership in an Association program.
The Neighborhood Watch Committee will provide assistance to the Welfare Committee of the Mission Manor Homeowners Association when required.
The Welface Committee will assist the Board of Directors with periodic welfare checks on those in the community who live alone and/or have disabilities or infirmities that may require the assistance of others and make reports to the Board of Directors as to whatever action may be needed.
To become a member of the Mission Manor Neighborhood Watch contact any Board member.
